First Sea-Launched FPV Drone Strike: Ukraine Hits Russian Offshore Platform

0

For the first time ever, Ukraine has deployed first-person-view (FPV) attack drones launched directly from boat crews on the open sea. The target: the Russian-held “Petro Hodovanets” offshore gas platform near Crimea.

This operation, carried out by Ukraine’s GUR “Raven” special unit, demonstrates a major breakthrough in naval drone warfare. The FPV drones struck Russian firing positions and contributed to the downing of a Su-30SM fighter jet.

This is a turning point in the use of drones at sea—no land base, no runway, just speedboats, operators, and precision strikes.
