At EFES-2026 in İzmir, Türkiye hosted one of the largest combined joint live-fire exercises of the Turkish Armed Forces, bringing together more than 10,000 personnel and representatives from 50 countries in a major demonstration of combat readiness, multinational cooperation, and NATO-standard interoperability. The exercise was conducted in the Gulf of İzmir and the Doğanbey Live-Fire Exercise Area between April and May 2026, with Distinguished Observer Day held on 20–21 May.
🎥 In this DefenseWebTV report, Army Recognition Group covers EFES-2026, a large-scale Turkish Armed Forces exercise designed to test land, naval, air, amphibious, special operations, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems in realistic multi-domain combat scenarios.
🛡️ EFES-2026 highlighted Türkiye’s ability to plan and conduct complex joint operations with allied and partner nations. The exercise included amphibious landings, live-fire missions, airborne operations, urban warfare scenarios, tunnel-clearing operations, naval fire support, and coordinated air operations.
⚓ A major highlight was the participation of TCG Anadolu, Türkiye’s flagship amphibious assault ship, which supported integrated naval and landing operations. The exercise also demonstrated the growing role of unmanned systems, including Turkish UAV capabilities operating in coordination with conventional forces.
⚡ EFES-2026 also served as an operational showcase for Türkiye’s expanding national defense industry. Indigenous systems, including drones, naval platforms, artillery, electronic warfare assets, and advanced combat technologies, were displayed in field conditions, underlining Türkiye’s progress toward greater defense-industrial autonomy.
🌍 Beyond its national importance, EFES-2026 reinforced Türkiye’s role as a key NATO ally and regional security actor. By bringing together forces and observers from allied and partner countries, the exercise strengthened interoperability, improved multinational coordination, and demonstrated Türkiye’s contribution to collective defense and regional stability.
