The United States has employed one-way attack sea drones in combat for the first time, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). During the July 12 operation, U.S. forces struck Iranian air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and IRGC fast attack boats supporting attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
The operation introduces a new U.S. maritime strike capability while expanding CENTCOM’s campaign to degrade Iran’s military infrastructure threatening freedom of navigation in one of the world’s most strategic waterways.
