The U.S. Navy’s newest Virginia-class attack submarine, USS Massachusetts (SSN 798), has successfully completed its first sea trials in the Atlantic Ocean. Conducted under the joint supervision of the U.S. Navy and Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Newport News Shipbuilding teams, the trials verified propulsion, submergence, and combat systems performance.
This marks a significant milestone for the Block IV Virginia-class program, paving the way for final acceptance and delivery in the spring of 2026. The sea trials included the submarine’s first submergence, high-speed maneuvers, and testing of critical systems — confirming the vessel’s readiness for operational deployment.
Stay tuned for more updates on U.S. Navy shipbuilding, submarine technology, and American naval power.
