Rolls Royce won a $9.3 million deal external link for Virginia Class sub propulsors

According to the United States Department of Defense, Rolls Royce has been awarded a $9.3 million contract to supply propulsors for the Virginia Class submarines.

An aggregate of seven Virginia Class propeller rotor assemblies, scoop bar sets, and associated engineering support services will be provided under the terms of the agreement.

Mississippi and Massachusetts will be the locations of the construction. The project is expected to be completed by May 2025.

The Virginia class, also known as the SSN-774 class, is a class of nuclear-powered cruise missile fast-attack submarines, in service in the United States. Designed by General Dynamics’s Electric Boat (EB) and Huntington Ingalls Industries, the Virginia-class is the United States Navy’s latest submarine model, which incorporates the latest in stealth, intelligence gathering, and weapons systems technology.
