At Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, Army Recognition Defense Web TV interviews CTA International to explore the latest evolution of its 40 mm Cased Telescoped Armament System (CTAS), including a new unmanned turret concept designed to counter both ground and aerial threats.
The company showcases its complete family of 40 mm cased telescoped ammunition alongside a compact unmanned turret demonstrator that highlights the flexibility of the CTAS weapon system for both wheeled and tracked combat vehicles.
CTA International explains how the system has evolved from low-rate production to full-rate serial production, with operational feedback driving new capabilities. Featuring an elevation angle of up to 85 degrees, the CTAS is now optimized to engage drones and other aerial threats while maintaining its proven lethality against armored vehicles and ground targets.
The interview also reveals how the compact architecture of the weapon system enables a true unmanned turret with no intrusion into the vehicle hull, preserving internal space while allowing crews to safely reload the cannon from inside the protected vehicle. This design increases crew survivability, operational flexibility, and compatibility with a wide range of combat vehicles.
Already in operational service for more than a decade, the 40 mm CTAS continues to evolve as a multi-domain weapon system capable of supporting land and naval operations while addressing the growing challenge posed by unmanned aerial systems.
